$$ Fundraising Ideas $$

The key to fund-raising is to set a goal, and start NOW!  Here are some great fund-raising ideas.

Online Letter-writing Campaign

After registering for the ride, set up your personalized web page and send a letter to your friends, family, co-workers, vendors, neighbors, high school and college alumni, and everyone else you know and ask them to sponsor you.  Letters are an easy and effective way to raise money.

Team Motivation

After you have formed your team, set goals for training and fundraising. Kevin Conley (a long-time rider and corporate partner through Long Distance Tire) annually organizes a post-ride celebration at his house. Rumor has it that it often involves a full-blown clambake. Now that's motivation!

Corporate Sponsors

Ask your company if they will sponsor your ride.  Also, ask your team members about getting their companies involved in the bike tour.  Maybe your company may consider providing the employees with ride information.  Create a team of riders from work.  Don’t forget about corporate charitable matching funds!

Corporate Program

Similar to the VHBCares program, various companies have existing programs or foundations that support non-profit events. Ask around to see if your company has a program where we can apply.  The VHBCares program raises more than $10,000 through auctions and employee contributions.

Percentage of the Proceeds

Ask local establishments to donate a percentage of the night’s proceeds to the CF Foundation.  In return, you should promote the “event” within your company and the local community to help drive traffic to the establishment.  The more people who attend, the more money you will receive.  Papa Gino’s offers such a program.
