Cycle For Haylee Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the name of the event change?
Due to the wonderful success of the Cycle for Haylee over the past thirteen years and the success of other grassroots cycling events that benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation decided to launch a nationally based cycling fundraiser call the CF Cycle for Life. In support of this effort, the original organizers of the Cycle for Haylee made the decision to incorporate their event into the CF Cycle for Life. Although the name and some of the details of the event have changed, the organizers remain committed to maintaining a family-friendly fundraiser that appeals to both casual and serious cyclists while raising the maximum dollars for CF research possible.
Did the routes change for 2010?
The traditional 12 and 30 miles routes remain essentially unchanged from 2009. However, we are very pleased to introduce a challenging 65-mile loop to the event. This new route takes riders north toward some beautiful riding in Concord. Riders can choose whichever route best suits their ability. Maps of each route are available on the website. Please note that the 65-mile riders will have an earlier start time than the other two shorter routes.
Why did the fee structure change from previous years?
In 2009, the event organizers revised the fee structure to encourage all riders to fundraise. Based on the success of the 2009 event (despite horrid weather), the 2010 fee structure builds on this formula. The fee structure maintains affordability to riders while supporting all riders in their fundraising effort. The primary goal of the Cycle for Haylee is to raise much-needed funds to support the science that is working toward finding the cure for CF. We are hopeful that the current registration options make it possible for everyone to ride, while still fulfilling the ultimate objective of the event.
What happened to the “team rider” option?
We have streamlined the registration options and encourage all team members to register in the category that best fits their needs.
Can I still form a team?
Absolutely. Teams have helped us grow the Cycle for Haylee to new heights over the past few years. The online registration process includes new tools to help you organize your returning team or to help you form a new team.
Where can I get help helpful hints to assist me in my fundraising effort?
Please contact Terry Waite of the CF Foundation in Natick at (508) 655-6000 or (800) 966-0444 to get helpful hints on getting started fundraising.
If I can’t fundraise and can’t afford the registration fees, how can I still participate in the Cycle for Haylee?
If you are unable to ride for any reason and wish to participate, the Cycle for Haylee is always on the look out for volunteers to help us run the event. Please contact Terry Waite for more information on volunteering.
If I don’t reach my fundraising goal, can I still ride in the event?
Yes. The Cycle for Haylee does not mandate any fundraising minimums and we do collect credit card information to ensure you meet your goal. Although all riders are required to fundraise, we are pleased to provide a variety of tools to make the effort easier. However, we understand that fundraising can be challenging. We hope our riders will set their goals high and make every effort to meet them. Every dollar counts toward finding the cure for CF. Do your best and then come ride with us.
